Our story

Founded by a student who got stuck in maths, and a teacher with 40 years in the classroom.

Mantas Vičius and his classmates struggled with maths at school; the gaps kept piling up until no one could say where exactly they were stuck. In 2021 he and Mykolas Kalmatavičius set out to build the tool they had wished for. Doc. Dr. Vilija Dabrišienė, a maths teacher with more than 20 textbooks to her name, worked with them from the very start and became an equal co-founder.

Maths learning built around what each student needs next.

Elicėjus is designed to uncover the gaps students build up over the years and point their practice at them, with lessons aligned to Lithuania’s national curriculum. Teachers get a ready-made library to assign from.

PROTAU

Tests that help, not punish.

PROTAU is an adaptive maths test for schools. It shows teachers which skills each student has secured and which still need work, and turns every result into a personal plan for what to learn next.

Here’s what happens in a PROTAU session, from the first sign-in to the student’s next step.

For teachers

The whole class, not just a score.

As soon as the test ends, teachers see each student’s results and the whole class at a glance: for every skill, how many students have secured it, area by area, and an improvement plan for each group with the lessons to revisit before the next session. About a month after the session closes, each student’s PROTAU score on the 400–1300 scale is added.

Three sessions show how students move.

Each session takes 45 minutes in grades 5–9 and 90 minutes in grades 10–12.

Slenkstiada

The threshold level. Essential for everyone.

Slenkstiada is a year-long maths-foundations programme for a whole year group: practice skill by skill, support for teachers and a spring olympiad, on the learning system behind Elicėjus. In Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city, it runs city-wide for fifth graders with the city municipality and the Kaunas Education Innovation Centre. Its goal: 100% for everyone.

Foundations first

The basics that everything else is built on.

Fractions, division and equality come back in ratios, equations and algebra. Slenkstiada gives fifth graders a whole year to practise them, skill by skill.

Secured means secured.

Every topic is broken into skills, each with its own practice. A skill only counts as secured when its tasks are solved independently, on the first try, several times in a row, and secured skills come back for review.

A year, together

Practice all year, an olympiad in spring.

Short practice fits into lessons and continues at home: after solving a task, students can carry on with a new example. Teachers see every skill each student has attempted, how often it was solved on the first try and when it comes up for review. The year ends with a maths olympiad in spring.
